Meet Dr. Michele J. Dimaira

Dr. Dimaira is a life-long resident of New Jersey.  Born in Jersey City, she attended St.  Dominic Academy before entering Douglass College (Rutgers University) on a full academic scholarship.  She began her affiliation with dentistry in high school at the age of 14 while working for her orthodontist.  She continued working as a dental assistant throughout college and then entered New Jersey Dental School to pursue her dream of becoming a dentist.  During dental school she was drawn to the field of Periodontics.  She continued her desire to educate and treat this systemic-reaching disease during her general practice residency at Lyons, NJ.  Ultimately, she pursued her goal to become a Periodontist  at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Los Angeles.

Dr. Dimaira excelled at her post-graduate residency in Periodontics, being the first resident to simultaneously obtain a Master of Science Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.  She was also the first resident in over 20 years to obtain the Distinguished Scholar Award from the Dental School (a University – wide award).  Dr. Dimaira has been featured in countless newspaper and magazine articles regarding her achievements and success stories.  Click here to read one of her many success stories.

Dr. Dimaira has practiced Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in New Jersey since 1995.  She is a Assistant Clinical Professor in Periodontics in the Post-Graduate Periodontal  Program at New Jersey Dental School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  She is a frequent lecturer on topics including periodontal disease, systemic ramifications of periodontal disease, implant surgery, implant temporization and treatment planning.  She is one of only a few clinicians in the country that routinely performs immediate implant dentistry (extraction of tooth and placement of implant at same time) in all areas of the dentition – including the very technique sensitive area of the molars.

Dr. Dimaira is a resident of Montville, New Jersey.  She is delighted that her practice is in the same town where she lives so that she can be close to the pride and joys of her life: her sons;  Louis (8) and Rocco (6).  Her husband, Louis DiPede is a Professor of Prosthodontics at New Jersey Dental School.  They have been married for over 20 years, having met in dental school at UMDNJ in Newark in 1986. Dr. Dimaira enjoys singing in her church choir, volunteering at her sons’ school , knitting and doing cross-stitch in her spare time.
